Kids love to unwrap gifts so why not turn it into a learning game! You could use any toys in your house but I used a set of counting ice cream scoops that we had. I wrapped up all the cones which had numbers on them and let my kids unwrap the cones and then they had to count out that many scoops.
This toy has been at our house for awhile now but the kids never really used it. When I turned it into an opening “presents” game it was like it was a brand new toy that they had never seen before! You could also do this with puzzle pieces such as an alphabet puzzle (wrap up each letter), Legos (sort by colors), food boxes and put in order of size, etc. There are so many possibilities! I used old holiday wrapping paper but you could definitely also use newspaper.
