Syllables are so important because dividing words into parts will make it easier for children to start sounding out and reading words! I had my kids clap out the syllables before they drew the line which is a helpful tool when first listening for syllables. Kids are also recognizing numbers in this activity! Win, Win! Wait, and..this activity couldn’t get any easier to set-up!!! So I guess it is a Win, Win, Win!
I put a bunch of different stickers on a paper, wrote the numbers 1-4 on the top for the number of syllables–you can work on words with 5 syllables but it’s hard to find nouns with 5 syllables so I couldn’t find any stickers with that amount. Then match the amount of syllables to the number!
